All applicants must appear in person, sober and upright. Those previously turned into frogs need not reapply until further notice.


1. Assistant Clock Winder (Night Rotation)

Maintain the correct hour on the lesser civic clocks between midnight and dawn. May require mild sprinting between towers.
Apply: Clockmaker’s Guild Annex, inquire for Mr. Timms or the nearest ringing sound.


2. Deputy Keeper of the Lost Umbrellas

Catalog, tag, and reassign unclaimed umbrellas left in taverns and tram stations.
Apply: Bureau of Misplaced Articles, North Hallway, Drawer 7.


3. Bird Scarer (Seasonal)

Defend grain stores from marauding crows. May be replaced by a convincing scarecrow if found idle.
Apply: Grain Commission Office, Warehouse 12, after sunup.


4. Grave Digger’s Assistant

Assist with respectful excavation and nighttime earth-turning. Applicants must demonstrate quiet demeanor and strong back.
Apply: Cemetery Gatehouse, knock thrice, wait politely for reply.


5. Apprentice Candlestick Carver

Carve ornate holders for ceremonial candles. Preference given to steady hands and poor conversationalists.
Apply: Guild of Waxwrights, Booth #2, Market Row.


6. Bell Polisher (Roving)

Traveling position. Must polish bells in every village between Inverness and the sea, keeping records of echoes.
Apply: Office of Provincial Sound, Upper Dock House.


7. Rat Historian

Document rat populations by lineage, occupation, and moral tendency. Fear of vermin discouraged.
Apply: Bureau of Urban Fauna, Sub-basement, Room “Squeak.”


8. Bridge Harpist

Play soothing tunes at twilight to discourage trolls and inspire commuters. Repertoire must exclude polkas.
Apply: Ministry of Cultural Wellbeing, submit audition by parchment.


9. Laundry Sorter for the Lunatic Asylum

Separate garments by owner, state of repair, and degree of despair.
Apply: House of Tempered Spirits, back gate, between bells two and three.


10. Window Counter (Municipal Census)

Enumerate all windows in the city for tax purposes. Curiosity toward interiors strictly forbidden.
Apply: Bureau of Enumeration, bring pencil, rope, and patience.


11. Apprentice Ale Tester

Assist the Brewmaster in quality assurance. Must detect bitterness, sweetness, and possible heresy in the finish.

12. Keeper of the Public Clocks’ Keys

Safeguard, polish, and occasionally remember the location of every clock key.
Apply: Civic Timing Office, Main Square, speak the phrase “Right on Time.”


13. Town Whisperer

Deliver sensitive news in hushed tones. Must possess stealthy step and impeccable timing.
Apply: Hall of Whispered Matters, unmarked door beside the baker’s.


14. Archivist of Forgotten Smells

Collect and record scents from attics, workshops, and old books for cultural preservation.
Apply: Ministry of Memory, Aromatic Division, behind the perfumery.


15. Assistant Lighthouse Keeper (Permanent)

Tend flame, polish lenses, and correspond with seagulls. Excellent solitude tolerance required.
