The canonization of Saint Carlo Acutis marks a moment of profound significance, particularly for the youth of Eyehasseen and for Catholic young people across the world. Born in 1991 and passing away in 2006, Carlo lived a life that in many ways mirrored that of today’s teenagers. He enjoyed video games, technology, and the ordinary rhythm of school life. Yet it was precisely within that ordinariness that sanctity revealed itself.
For young people, Carlo is a saint who speaks their language. He is the first canonized figure to grow up with the internet as a daily reality. Where previous generations of saints may have wielded pen and parchment, Carlo built websites cataloguing Eucharistic miracles. Where others traveled by horseback or ship, he moved within digital spaces, reminding the faithful that holiness is not constrained by medium. His witness proves that sanctity can flourish not in spite of technology, but within it, provided it is used with discernment and devotion.
The youth of Eyehasseen, like their peers elsewhere, live in a time of extraordinary distraction and unprecedented connection. Social media, video games, and endless streams of information form the backdrop of their daily lives. Saint Carlo shows that these same tools can be consecrated to the service of God. He demonstrated that the internet need not be a place of temptation alone, but also of evangelization, catechesis, and beauty. His life testifies that holiness is not outdated, but urgent and present, available even in jeans and sneakers.
Beyond his technological relevance, Carlo’s simplicity is what most captivates. He was not a founder of orders, nor a martyr in the conventional sense. He was a boy who went to school, loved soccer, and walked his dog. Yet he also placed the Eucharist at the very center of his life, attending daily Mass and spending hours in adoration. This juxtaposition — ordinary teenager and extraordinary disciple — reassures the young of Eyehasseen that sanctity is within reach.
Carlo once said, “The Eucharist is my highway to heaven.” For the rising generation, that phrase is more than a motto; it is a summons. In a world that tempts them to pursue fleeting novelty, Saint Carlo Acutis points to eternity. His canonization is not only a recognition of his sanctity but a challenge to the youth of Eyehasseen: to live in the digital age without losing sight of the eternal.
