Sir,
It is long past time we open our eyes to the scandal quietly rotting at the heart of our most cherished institution: the so-called “non-profit” vendor running our Royal Library. For decades, it has received a steady torrent of public coin—gleaned from the pockets of hardworking folk across the realm—under the noble pretense of literacy and learning. And yet, when one asks how the funds are spent, one is met with evasion, obfuscation, or the sudden appearance of a musical puppet show.
Where are the ledgers? Where is the oversight? Where is the dignity? We are told that transparency exists, yet no candlelight reaches the vaults of this contractor. Instead, we see a cabal of well-coiffed administrators drawing generous salaries, while the library’s plaster peels and its shelves sag from neglect.
This is not stewardship. It is silent embezzlement with a veneer of culture.
If our kingdom is to be governed with any degree of honesty, then let it begin with the guardians of knowledge themselves. Demand the accounts. Open the books. Let sunlight in. And if rot is found, let it be cleared with the same resolve we bring to blight or pestilence.
Yours in furious ink,
A Citizen Who Still Reads
